A ‘Fair’ Showing in Gosford

There will be echoes of the past at this year’s Gosford Show. In earlier times, well remembered by many present residents, the various Agricultural Bureau branches (Mangrove Mountain, Peat’s Ridge, Kulnura) made district displays of farm and orchard produce in competition at the Gosford Show.

On the 2nd and 3rd of May 2009 at the Gosford Show, we will be making a small exhibit to present the agricultural industries, activities, culture and heritage of the Mangrove Mountain Districts – as celebrated at the Mangrove Mountain & Districts Country Fair. Included will be some sample activities to give a taste of the fun-of-the-fair.

We hope to remind the people of the ‘lowlands’ about our special local event, the role that farming has played in the development of the Gosford region, as well as highlight the present productivity of the ‘Mountain’ in providing food and other farm products.

The next meeting of the Country Fair planning team and committee will be on the 14th of May, 7.30pm, at the new meeting place, The Union Church Hall – and a reminder that the 13th is the deadline for community funding requests to reach the Secretary.
We welcome anyone who wants to come along and be part of our Country Fair experience.
